Nexium Dosing Methods

For sufferers of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), complicated medicines are about the last thing worth dealing with. Situations like this remind me of the child-proof lids on medicine bottles. Why anyone thought that putting a tricky clamp on a bottle that you’d only reach for when you have a throbbing head is beyond me. Likewise, anyone with a prescription for Nexium probably has little patience for complicated dosing instructions. After all, GERD can be incredibly uncomfortable if not downright painful, as it involves stomach acid flowing backwards and traveling up the esophagus, eroding away the tissue. You can buy Nexium from an online pharmacy in Canada.

Unfortunately, Nexium can be taken in many ways depending on its application and the exact symptoms its trying to target. One of the more common methods is also the most familiar; a simple pill. In this form, Esomeprazole, which is the generic equivalent to Nexium, comes in a capsule that is filled with smaller capsules. This is called a multiple unit pellet system (MUPS). When swallowed, water travels through the membrane of the pill through osmosis when it enters the stomach. This causes the contents of the pill to swell until the shell bursts. Now, all the miniature capsules inside start to deteriorate until they, too, rupture and release the contained medicine into the bloodstream.

You might be thinking ‘why go to the trouble of explaining all that if it’s just a pill in the first place?’ Thing is, for those with severe GERD, swallowing a pill can be difficult if not impossible. In these situations, dosing requires that the medicine be prepared by breaking the capsule and getting the mini-capsules into the bloodstream by other means. One common technique is using apple sauce. By sprinkling the mini-capsules in a spoonful of applesauce, it’s easier to swallow the whole dose in one go. Of course, the important thing to note here is that the whole dose must be swallowed at once, and it can’t be chewed or held in the mouth for too long.

Another method involves dissolving the dose in water. To do this, pour one tablespoon of water and the contents of a capsule into a cup, and stir. Wait a few minutes, stir again, and drink the whole thing. If there’s any medicine left in the cup, add more water, stir, and drink again until none remains. Finally, the most infirmed patients have to rely on feeding tubes to take their medicine. This approach is much too complicated to describe here. As with this method and any described here, make sure to get explicit instructions from your doctor and follow them to the letter. Generic Nexium is available from Canadian Pharmacies online.

Worrying about the method of dosage is a luxury that have already filled their prescriptions, though. Many have been turning to Canadian pharmacies to fill prescriptions, which is absolutely safe and legal provided it’s done in the right way. As always, never try to obtain any medicine without a prescription from your doctor. Likewise, don’t buy any medicine from a pharmacy if it doesn’t require you to have a prescription. Even if you have a valid prescription, don’t fill it at one of these pharmacies even if it is cheaper. With such disreputable outlets, you never know what you’ll end up with.
